Brooke Hayes

MA, LPC

she/her/hers

I am drawn to working with people who are in a process of re-examining, unlearning, and intentionally creating lives that actually fit them. These are individuals, couples, and families who have reached a point where old ways of thinking, being, or relating no longer work—and they are ready to choose something different. This transition point is one of deep possibility, personal power, and growth.

I believe therapy is about finding what works, gently letting go of what doesn’t, and learning to work with—not against—one’s internal system. Through compassion, curiosity, and courage, clients can move toward greater internal harmony, freedom, and authenticity.

Therapeutic Philosophy

I view human beings as complex and inherently multiple, not disordered. Conflicting thoughts, feelings, and desires are a natural part of being human—not pathology. From an IFS-informed lens, all parts serve a purpose, even when their strategies are no longer helpful.

I believe shame does not create lasting change. Gentleness and compassion are essential—not to coddle, but to foster real, sustainable transformation. Therapy supports clients through seasons of:

  • Coping (getting through),

  • Healing (recovering),

  • Cultivating (creating, expanding, becoming).

About My Work

I work with individuals, couples, and families who find themselves at a point where old ways of thinking, being, or relating no longer work—and they are ready to create something that aligns more fully with who they are and the life they want to live. Often, my clients are navigating transitions, healing from past experiences, or feeling stuck in patterns that once served them but now feel limiting or painful.

I believe this crossroads is a powerful and meaningful place. It is where we begin to reclaim choice, agency, and the ability to intentionally create our lives. In therapy, we focus on discovering what truly works, while mindfully and compassionately letting go of what no longer does.

My approach is grounded in the belief that human beings are complex, resilient, and doing the best they can with what they have. From an Internal Family Systems (IFS) perspective, I view inner conflict and competing needs as a natural part of being human—not pathology. With curiosity, compassion, and courage, we work together to understand your internal system and create greater harmony, which often opens the door to more freedom, capacity, and personal power. I support clients through seasons of coping, healing, and cultivating. Regardless of the season, I place strong emphasis on self-compassion and gentleness, recognizing that shame rarely creates lasting change, while understanding and care often do.

I use an integrative approach to therapy; interventions are tailored to your unique needs, goals, and comfort level. My role is to walk alongside you as you do the work life is asking of you, helping you move toward greater wholeness, health, and fulfillment.
